Who We Are- Joel
Welcome to Common Thread’s “Who We Are” series. Common Thread is a non-profit completely dependent on the willingness of volunteers to keep the store running. In the next couple of months, we will be highlighting who our volunteers are and why they are donating time to a secondhand store in Lawrenceville. Hopefully, the next time you come to the store- you will know who is waiting on you!
Age: 25
Occupation: Graduate student researcher
Lawrenceville Resident: No
How did you hear about Common Thread?- Friends from church
Why did you start volunteering?- Practical way to serve the community
Top 3 reasons why you like Common Thread?- 1) ridiculously inexpensive clothing, 2) building friendships with other volunteers and meeting customers, 2) customers’ happy faces at checkout time.
Any good volunteering stories?- Nothing really specific, though I do have a fond memory of watching a middle-aged married couple flirting with each other and just having a good time shopping together – it was heart-warming.
Why should someone volunteer at Common Thread?- Giving of your time is an excellent way to self-forgetfulness, which is a sure path to True Happiness.

This weekend we are having another one of our amazing Dollar sales!

On Tuesday the very cool Design*Sponge published their Pittsburgh City Guide and Common Thread was listed as one of the stores to check out. You might also notice that Lawrenceville shops were all over the place in the city guide–way to to go L’ville!
